Happy Frenchie Friday!
Happy Frenchie Friday everybody! "Stella" is my little clown. It's so hard for me to believe she will be nine years old this year. Everyone always thinks she's a puppy because she is a smaller French Bulldog...and acts like a puppy. Just recently, she stopped jumping up on the couch...just stopped. So we've been lifting her more and I don't even like to think about her getting older! That's okay though...I don't mind baby-ing her. She is extremely spoiled, as most Frenchie's are;)
She always makes me laugh when she "peeks" like this...she always likes to keep an eye on me! :) Here she is "peekin'' with 'Pekachu'... Hahahahahaha!
Enjoy your weekend everyone...and for those of you who are doing the Whole30 Challenge....HAPPY Whole30 DAY 9!! Keep it up! :) Behind "Stella" in the top picture you can see all of my old cookbooks that I haven't opened in a looong time...Barefoot Contessa, Pioneer Woman, etc...great but NOT Paleo;)
Frenchie Friday
Happy Frenchie Friday everyone! As you can see, "Stella" is tuckered out after the New Year! She fell right outa bed! :)
For those of you who are embarking on the Whole30 Challenge with me, it's Day 2!! Whoo Hoo! So far, it's been fantastic, we are eating amazing foods that are wonderful and satisfying. I'm making recipes I've never made before and my husband and I are loving them! Last night I made Paleo Pad Thai!! It was SO good!!
Stella says YUM.
We are also not watching TV for these 30 days...double discipline!! The no TV has been a little harder. We are reading a lot, hiking a lot...it'll be ok, I'm just going through a little Jimmy Fallon withdrawals right now.
I hope everyone is excited about 2015 being the year for a better you!! Enjoy your weekend!
Happy Frenchie Friday!
Happy Frenchie Friday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas yesterday! As you can see..."Stella" got spoiled as usual and has lots of new toys to play with!
I think her very favorite things she got....her new "pocket bed" that she can lay on or inside...
...and her "Bee-Hive Puzzle" that has three bees inside that she can pull out, each has squeakers...she plays with the bees AND carries around the whole hive!
We had a wonderful Christmas. We splurged and had a very "un-paleo" breakfast that was incredible. Overnight Baked Blueberry French Toast and homemade scalloped potatoes....YUM.
Enjoy your holidays everyone!
How to make a gift bag out of wrapping paper!
I can't believe I never knew how to do this until now! I've always fancied myself a pretty good "wrapper" of gifts...but making a gift bag out of wrapping paper takes it to a whole new level! This is so perfect for those odd shaped gifts that are hard to wrap! If you don't have a gift bag, now you can easily make your own!!
It's Christmas Eve...Eve today, so this might help you out with those last minute hard to wrap gifts!
Here's how...
Use a medium weight wrapping paper. Too light won't be strong enough, and too thick will be hard to work with.
Lay out some wrapping paper and measure the width of your gift(s) you want to put inside. Fold the edges into the center, overlapping slightly. Tape the seam completely closed.
Next, fold up the end. Again use your gift as a guide to make sure the size is right.
Now, open up the bottom, like this...
Crease the edges down, like this...(this is the fun, "origami" part)
Next, fold the tips down, overlapping slightly in the center...
Tape all the bottom seams, like this...
Taping all the seams will make your bag strong. Next, pop open your gift bag and trip the top if needed, leaving enough room to fold the edge down to close.
Fill your bag and now that you're feeling crafty...maybe try some homemade handles!? I haven't gotten that far yet, so I just folded the bag down, taped it close and put a bow on it!
Now you know how to make a gift bag out of wrapping paper! This would be fun to teach your kids! :) Pretty cool, huh? Give it a try!
Frenchie Friday...Christmas is right around the corner!
Happy Frenchie Friday everyone!
"Stella" received her BarkBox on the doorstep yesterday, but I didn't show her because it's getting wrapped and put under the tree!! Christmas always sneaks up quicker and quicker every year it seems! I'm baking and cooking today as we are having our staff over this evening for a white elephant gift exchange!
I'm doing appetizers and cocktails...keeping it mostly Paleo and simple! I made the pie, fudge and roasted nuts yesterday to make today easier;)
I'm making:
- Meatballs in the crockpot...so easy and always a hit! (I've always used the grape jelly/chili sauce recipe...can't be beat!)
- Bacon-wrapped Jalapeno Poppers (my husband requested these...he loves them)
- Baked Brie with Pepper Jelly inside, served with salami and almond rice crackers
- Homemade Pumpkin Chiffon Pie with Coconut Whipped Cream (if this turns out good...I'll do a recipe blog post because it looks goooooooood!)
- Fudge (with extra in tins to send home with everyone)
- Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies with red sugar
- Maple-Spiced Nuts...Pecans and Almonds
For our white elephant gift we got books this year! I think everyone should read more, so we thought if someone's not a reader now...maybe this will inspire them to read! Books are always a good gift;)
Enjoy your holiday parties, and remember if you're throwing one....plan ahead, keep it simple so you can enjoy yourself! :)
